Connecticut the Prospect: Minor League Baseball in the Nutmeg State

Connecticut has a strong history in the formation of professional baseball in America. From the birth of the game in Cooperstown to the end of the Reconstruction period to today, the people of the Nutmeg State have supported America's pastime. The National League's first president was a man from Connecticut. The great ballplayers of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees have played on the turf that separate their glorified stadiums. Connecticut was a haven for professional ballclubs during the financial unstable youth of professional sports. After the fall of major league baseball in Connecticut the minor leagues became an avenue that is still followed to this day. The ball park of the New Britain Rock Cats holds onto what makes baseball great. Why we all go to the games? The feeling we get when we see the winning hit? or the snacks and games that are played in between innings? The heart of baseball still lies in the Land of Steady Habits through the spectrum of the minors even if its not the big time.
